NEW RAILWAYS.

THE AUTHORISATION BILL. The Railways Authorisation Bill authorises the Government to arrange for tno construction of the following railways;.1. East Coast-Miin Trunk-fl) From Woihi te Athenree. Length about nine miles. (2) An extension of the authorised line from Te Maunga Junction _ to.tho right bank of the Wairoa River, m Block IX, Tauranga Survey District. Length about eight miles. (3) From the end of th« authorised lino at Paengaroa in a south-easterly direction to the left bank of the Pongakawa River. Length about eight miles. (•!) From Napier to a point near the eonilnence of the Okatewai and E«k Itivers in Block in, Puketapu Surrey District. Lensrth about fifteen miles. 8. Foxtm-New Plymouth (Kakariki dcvirtien)—A deviation leaving tho existing line at about 109 miles 7G chains on the reilw.iT chainage and running generally ea the seuthern uide'ef the existing lino to a jnnetien therewith at about 110 miles 6S chains on the said chainage. Length about fifty-ttrree chains. 9. Picten-HurunnMl) An extension of the authorised line ai the north end to near the Kouth side of the Kekcrangu Mirer. Length about eight miles and a half. (2) From the end of the authorised line at the south end te a point near tho •onnuenee of the Charwell and Conway Hirer*. Length about ten miles. 10 Midland—An extension from the end fif the authorised line at tho junction of the nepe and Buller Rivers te near tho ecraflnence of the Oiren and Buller Rivers. Length about nine miles. 11. Westpoii-InanEnhna—About six miles. 1!. I?MS-Mifcnnni—About four miles. 15 Hurunui-Waitnki (Waimato branch)— An extension from Waihao Downs Station nbont four miles. _ 14. Invercargill-Kingston (Wmton-Hed-don Bush Branch)—A branch from Wintan Station to lkddon Bush. About thirteen miles. 15. CatlinVSeaward Bush—(l) An extension of the authorised line at the east end to near the confluence of Back Creek with the Tnliakopa River. Abont fire miles. (!) From Toknnui. About fire miles. IC. Orepnki-Wainu—An extension from the Wainu Kiver to a point near the eenllueuce of the Wniraki and Waiau Rivers. About nineteen miles.
