THE ZOO CONCERT.
The concert and picture entertainment givoa under the auspices of tho .Wellington Zoological Society in the t Concert Chamber, Town Hall, lasfe evening, was fairly weill attended. Tho musical portion of the nroeramme consisted of vocal items by Mr. 11. J. Hill ("Waiata Poi" song), Miss Nellio Castle (solo, "Sink Ecd Sun."—Teresa, del Biogo), Jiiss Hathicson, 1..A.8. (violin solo), Mr. Glen Keiri (song, "In Hapyy Dreamland"), Miss Muriel Bennett (song, "Schuoeflockc-n ,, —Mulliuson), Mr. Vielchcr feon.K), a musical sketch by Mr. F. V. Blnndford, and .••elections by tlio Wellington Gas Company's orchestra. Tho kinemategraph finis were a most inteivf-tinK collection, the most notable item being the Government film showing the precision 'at their Majesties King Gcorga and Queen Mary along tho Quay, whcui, as tin.- Duke, ai'.d Durhess oi York, their Royal Highnesses visited Wellington, and also various incidents at tho laying oi the foundation sione of tho Wellington Town Hnll. Tiii-i film is of historic interest—and so of considerable value to Now Zealand— in that ciuito. a number of local people who have fiinco passed away—the lalo Mr. Sccldon, Mr. Ooorge Fisher, Mr. John Hinuiisr, s«n\, and others—a* ccen. Other pictures included some interesting sceiLcsj iit. the London Zoo, "Glimpses of Bird Life," "Birds in their Nests," and "Coronation Pictures." Altogether, the entertainment, both from tho interest of tho programme, and the object of tho venture—the furtherance oi! the intr.'or.tß of the Zoo— much better support than it received. During an interval in the pro(,'rj.mme, tho president <jf the =ociotj-, tho Rev. John Crowes, made an earnest appeal for public support for tlie Wplliiaton Zoo.
