A report from Santa Babara, in California, states that twenty-six sticks of dynamito wero discovered on a steel bridgo on the Southern Pacific Railway before tho passing of a train in which tho President, Mr. Taft, was travelling. Tho watchman fired shots at a suspicious . character who was loitering near tho track, and afterwards investigated, and found the dynamite. Tho outrage is believed to have somo connection with tho striko of tlio shopmen employed by the railroad. Mr. Taft was not informed of the discovery.
