The Victorian Amateur Turf Club's meeting will bs continued at CaidfieJd tomorrow. .St. Bill, who was turned out for a spell after the last Marton meeting, has again commenced work at Wansranui, under tho Kuidance of his owner, Mr. A. Hall. It is expected that Seaman will bo nominated in the Welter events at FoiMins next month. Tho Sylvia Park geldinp is both looking and galloping well on tho Wanpranui tracks, and the throat operation which he underwent somo months ago seems to have completely cured him of his wind trouble. It is "now some threo yenrs since Seaman sported silk, and it will be intprcsiing to observe whether lio can "come back" successfully. Mr. A. Hall, c-f Wanganui, recently purchased an unbroken four-year-old grey gelding by Nestor, from Ascot Vnle. The latter was a fairish sort of marc, and won many raoes nnder tho colours of tho late Mr. J. TI. Nixon. The time put up by Lady Medallist in tho Craven Plate, viz., 2min. 6Jsec, is only three-quarters of a second slower than the Australasian record, hold bv Son of the Marsh. W. Young rode two winners at Hastings, and iinished second twice. A. Oliver registered a similar performance to that of Young. Haskyne, who ran in the Juvenile Handicap at Napier, is a younger brother of Outward, who was a winner at Hastings during the previous week. Sunburnt, who was sold at auction in Sydney last week for 200 guineas, was resold privately a few minutes later at an advance of 70 guineas. A private cable message received in Now Zealand from Lord Derby states that he has hopes of saving the lifo of Swjnford, who broke his leg whilo exorcising recently. W, Young arrived in town last evening, and will ride work at Trentham this morning. Adare struck himself wliilo doing a gallop at l''eilding last week, and will not bo brought to the Trentham meeting. The meeting between Labour Day and Otahu in tho Waveriey-Waitolara Cup on Monday promises to bo one of tho attractions" or tho meeting. At Wanganui last month, Labour Day, when in receipt ot 21b., beat Otahu by a length. Sho is now set to meet him on 51b. worse terms, which should bring the pair together. As showing that both horses will soon run out of hack company, it may bo mentioned that the time for the mile at Wanganui was tho same as that registered by Mescal, who defeated Iranui in the concluding event.
