THE CASE OF MISS MALECKA.
EELEASED ON BAIL. By Telosrrapb—Press Ass.-eiatian-Copyrisht St. Petersburg, October 15. At the instance of Sir Edward Grey, British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Hiss iMalecka has been released tit Warsaw on bail.
In reply to a question in the Honso of Commons on August 11, Sir Edward Grey, Secretary of State ' for Foreign Affairs, Btatod:—"The Russian Government state that John ITalecka and his daughter never received permission to renounce their Russian nationality, and must therefore bo regarded in Russia as beiffi? at the present time of Russian nationality, notwithstanding the naturalisation of the ] former in Great Britain, and quite apart I from the question of whether John Malecka was a native of one of the interior provinces of the Empire or of a Polish province. It is further pointed out that it is clearly laid down by the British Natura.lifation Law of May Yi, 1870, that naturalisation docs not hold grod as regards tho former country of a foreigner if, in accordance with its laws, the naturalisation cannot be recosrnised as valid. Tho Russian Government, therefore, find it impossible to take any steps to comply with the reprrc-enintion of his-Majesty's Government on behalf of Miss Malecka, but oiring to the friendly relations existimr between -the two Governments they will expedite tho course of the matter as much us possible. The Rupsian Government add that the arrest of Miss MaJecka was the outcome of her political relations with members of tho Polish Socialistic party."
