FEILDING NOTES.
There were impounded here last month 2G cow.-;, 1 bull, ;ind 21 horses from the borough street.?, and 10 cows and 1 bull from outside. Slaughterings at the I'eilding abattoir last month were 31 cows (2 condemned), 22 heifers (2 condomned), 28 bullocks, 313 owes (I condemned), 2(3 wethers, 0 lambs, 11 pigs, and 1 calves. The slaughtering fees paid amounted to -Col lis. The Mayor reports that the Government subsidy of X2O on the treo-plawthig carried out this season has been received. .Mr. A. J. Geary, town clerk, reported to the council on Thursday night on tho Various engineering and maintenance works which had been carried out during the past month. The Mayor complimentcd Mr. Geary upon what ho had effected as supervisor. The Municipal Baths are to be opened shortly. It is proposed to have a programme of sports for schoolboys. At the quarterly meeting of the I'eilding Methodist Church, the liev. A. B. Chappell was in the chair, ami received a hearty and unanimous invitation to remain in tho circuit for another year. Mr. W. S. Neal was recommended as a candidate for flio ministry to the Wanganui District Synod. Miss Toug and .Mr. J. G. Gobi® were appointed substitute representatives to the Synod.
