According to the "Wanganui Herald," tho owners of tho Pclotas are very hopeful of meeting with tho eucccss that their efforts at floating the vessel undoubtedly deserve, and thoy fully expect to havo the barquentine beached in the river on tho South Spit before the week end. The hull of tho Pelotas is apparently thoroughly sound, though 6omo of the planks have sprung, and rccmixe attention. An erroneous impression has got abroad that tho copper sheathing has been stripped off the vessel. As a matter of fact, Ehe has no such sheathing, but was copper-painted,, and in tho bulfoting and exposure to tho weather the paint has come off. The salving of tho remaining sleepers is still being proceeded with. A hundred were got out on Monday, 77 on Tuesday, and another lot will follow. Tho balance of about 600 will bo left in her, as it is intended to make an effort to bring the vessel into tho river.
