CARTERTON NOTES.
The Wairarapa Egg Circle's local branch sent away over 300 dozen eggs this week. A Maori and pakeha union, in the form of a Native ball, was held at Carterton on Thursday night, and passed off successfully. The committee who arranged tho function were: Messrs. iiraia Te Whiti, Parakau MaiLn, Tu Hirini, Hacta Apatu, and Hika l'uhi. Mr. V, I'airbrothor was M.C. Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Cave left Carterton on Thursday on an extended holiday trip. At a meeting of the local Oddfellows' Lodge, an invitation was accepted from the Loyal Greytown to visit the GreytOwn Lodge next Wednesday, the occasion being the annual visit of district officers. IJro. O. A. Abbott was nominated for the position of N.G., which has been rendered vacant by the resignation of Bro. Beck, who is leaving for Palmerston North, bro. C. J. De Lacey was appointed delegate to the Friendly Societies' Council. Bro. It. Tucker was nominated for tho office of V.G. The resignation of Bro. F. B. Cave, as a trustee, was accepted with regret. Mr. W 7 . Gandar, who has been in business in Carterton as a bookseller and stationer, has sold tho business to Mr. G. Lincoln Cole. At a meeting of the Carterton Bowling Green Committee it was decided that the former system of arranging play on Thursday afternoons be abolished, and, instead (as soon as full rinks arrive on the green), they shall conimenco play, other rinks being filled as members arrive. It was decided to allow play on Saturday and Tuesday next, but to officially open the green next Thursday.
