It is said that a Loudon kinematograpV syndicate has just concluded negotiations', with tho Chineso Government by which they will havo the privilege of supplying films for and to organise an exten'sivo system of kinematograph theatres throuahout the whole of China. Tho capital is being provided by local mandarins, and the theatres will bo entirely in Chineso hands, i'lio other part of tho arrangement is that tho syndicate is to bo Klvon the right to tako films in any part of China and to havo special privileges for taking records of religious and social ceremonies which hitherto were quite unattainable, or could only bo attempted at the immediate risk of the operator's lite. During the past threo vcars a cood deal of kinomntograph work'of one kind' or another has been done in China, and on operator who recently returned had somo terrifying experiences, including imprisonment in the interior.
