Canon Boyco, Archdeacon of West Sydney, and president of tho British Empire League in Australia, points out thai Prohibition is still in force in Maine. Tho recent Tote was only on the question of altering tho Constitution, eo thai the State Legislation might have power to repeal tho prohibitory Jaw if it dosires. Canon Boyco thinks it improbable that the Legislature will vdow tho poll as a mandate to introduce local option voting. At the Baptist Union Conference, the Rov. .1. Dawson wad a cablegram announcing that tho recount of the Maine vote resulted in a majority of 718 against altering tho Constitution.
