Ho was the tenant for life of Drayton Manor, and tho trustees of the Pcef settled estates made an allowance to his wife and family and a voluntary allowance to himself, which averaged ,£ISOO to £1800 a year. He had nothing to pay out of that sum in respect of the upkeep of the property. Ho had thrown open the grounds of Drayton Manor on Whitsun and August bank holidays for tho previous three years. He charged Is. admission and had hoped to havo made a profit, but had lost. It was a speculation. Tho public would not come unless there was some attraction, and he had engaged threo bands of the Household Cavalry, and that cost money. He also had an arrangement with Messrs. Pain for fireworks, and that linn was with him in the loss. The bankrupt, in his examination, stated that he was preparing a scheme to pay 10s. in the pound. The Assistant Receiver remarked that there had been four previous bankruptcies and nothing had been paid under any previous scheme. This was denied by tho bankrupt, who declared that' his last bankruptcy had yielded Bs. 4d. in tho pound.
