IMPORTANT CATTLE SALE.
Attention is directed in our advertising columns to the annual spring cattle fair to be held on account of Mr. R. A. M'Kenzie, at tho New Saleyards, Boundary Road, Palmerston North, on Tuesday, October 17, by Messrs. Dalgety and Co. and tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Tho 1100 yearling steers t> be offered arc all station bred, and oomprise Shorthorn, Polled Angus, and Hcrefords from some of tho best breeders in the North Island. The yearling heifers, .300 in number, and the line of 30 two-year hnifers are particularly choice quality, and should be eagerly sought after. * Tho beef to be offered comprise 50 prime fat bullocks and 1(10 prime heifers and cows, and as beef is at present Very scarce this affords an excellent opportunity for butchers to fill their requirements. The 1700 bullocks to be sold ar.e three, four, and five : yen.r station-bred cattle, and will bo drafted and-offered in. lots to suit purchasers. As in the past, the young cattle, beef and female stock will bo offered without reserve.
The output of dairy produce <;his year from the Wairarapa (writes our Featherston correspondent) will exceed that of previous years, as dairy farmers are growing more maize in case of drought', and also mangels for winter use. The hc-rds in the district arc also much freer from tho abortion, trouble than previously. This is mainly attributable to i'lie special instruction given to farmers by Mr. C. ,T. Reakcs, of the Government Veterinary Department.
