MAKURA LEFT VANCOUVER. On Wednesday, October 4, the Union Oo.'s Vancouver mail liner Makura left Vancouver for Auckland and Wellington. The vessel calls at Honolulu and Suva en route, and is due here on October 24. She is bringing 130 passengers in tho flrstrclafs, 145 second-class, and 155 third-class.

Maitai, which is bound from Sau Francisco to Wellington, states that her captain exports to arrivo in tho stream at 6 o clock to-night. It has not been decided whether tho vessel will berth to-night or tomorrow morning. Tho mcssago al6o advises that she is experiencing high head seas and a S.E. wind.
WAKEIMOO, FBOM SYDNEY. Shortly after noon yesterday the Warrimoo arrived in the 6tream from Sydney, and berthed at the Queen's Wharf an how later. The vessel cleared Sydney at-1 p.m. on Saturday, and experienced light easterly and north-easterly winds, accompanied by moderate throughout the journey. THE CLAN LINE. Messrs. Alex. Stephen and Son, Linthonse, Glasgow, launched recently tho new Clan Uner, Olan Macoaughton. Tho vessel is 430 ft. in length, 53ft. 3in. beam, and 37ft. in dopth. She is designed for tho Eastern trade. She has a full equipment, of derricks, including ono of 40 tons, and ajso powerful winches for heavy caTco. She has a cellular double bottom, and a. tank amidships, capablo of carrying 16C0 tons of water ballast. Sho is eouipped with eix seta of quadrant davits, and a completo electric light installation' has been fitted. She has a steering gear amidships, and a hand gear aft fitted with patent brake. Tho machinery consistß of triple-expansion engines, having cylinders 29. 49, and 80, with 60in. stroke, and supplied with steam from 3 s.c. boilers.
Another addition to the fleet of Chin steamers is tho Clan MacgUlivray, which was launched recently, at the yards of Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitwort-h and Co., Walker shipyard, Glasgow. The vessel is of the shelter-dcck type, and is a single-screw steamer. Her principal dimensions arc: Length, 430 ft.; breadth. 53ft. 6in.; depth, 29ft. to upper deck. Sho is rigged as a fore and aft schooner, with tdcscopic topma-sto. Her bottom is constructed on tho ■ cellular system for water ballast. The captain's room nud two state rooms are arranged on the top of the saloon-hoiife. Sho is fitted with Eteara winclios, with five derricks at each mast and two derrick poft-s amidships. She has also a fiteel dnrrick and gear, capablo of lifting 40 tons. Steam steering gear is also fitted on tho vciscl, and her propelling tnaohincry is of tho triplo-expansion type.
The Island 6tcamer Natua, with fruit, is expected here this afternoon. After completing discharge, she will leave for Westr port, to load coal for Auckland. Mr. W. A.
