The Premier, Senhor Chagas, in an interview declared that tho invasion had failed becanse the array had been faithful. Forbearance had been shown to the Monarchists, but henceforth severe measures would be taken. Tho Minister for War has resigned. Tho Government is asking the President, Dr. Arraiga, to summon the Cortes and provide means for the rapid trial of Monarchist conspirators. MONARCHISTS' WITHDRAWAL. Madrid, October 9. The Monarchists withdrew disheartened from Portugal after tho failure of tho plot to establish Royalist headquarters at Oporto. THE CASUALTY LIST. (Rec. October 11, 1.5 a.m.) Lisbon, October 10. One hundred and fifty persons wore killed or wonnded during the Royalist raid.
