ROYALISTS IN FLIGHT. INVASION DECLARED TO HAYE FAILED. STATEMENT BY PREMIER. By Teletrraph—Prtjss Association— Copyright Lisbon, October 9. The Government troops, after sustaining the Monarchist fire for an hour, occupied Vinhaes, and chased fcho Monarchists across the border. Two of tho pursuers were wounded. Tharo is still a small concentration of Monarchists at Salgueiros. Guerrilla operations aro taking place at Vianna do Castello district, on the coast. The Portuguese Government has protested to Spain against the violation of frontier rights. THE ARMY FAITHFUL. RAPID TRIAL OF CONSPIRATORS SOUGHT. Lisbon, October 9. The Premier, Senhor Chagas, in an interview declared that tho invasion had failed becanse the array had been faithful. Forbearance had been shown to the Monarchists, but henceforth severe measures would be taken. Tho Minister for War has resigned. Tho Government is asking the President, Dr. Arraiga, to summon the Cortes and provide means for the rapid trial of Monarchist conspirators. MONARCHISTS' WITHDRAWAL. Madrid, October 9. The Monarchists withdrew disheartened from Portugal after tho failure of tho plot to establish Royalist headquarters at Oporto. THE CASUALTY LIST. (Rec. October 11, 1.5 a.m.) Lisbon, October 10. One hundred and fifty persons wore killed or wonnded during the Royalist raid.
