Referring to the value to farmers of the' warnings :of.'the. approach of. bad weather Which the' instruments and information in the hands'of the Government Meteorologist enable that, officer to dispatch, tho ."Farmers' Union Advocate" remarks . that; the Gpvevpmjeht;' .will fail •iiri-i'ts duty if every telegraph offico and telephone bureau are not, in the near •future, supplied with storm warnings for the benefit of country settlers. The' question of. the relation of weather to agriculture is one which the Minister for Agriculture would do -well to • consider when discussing, his proposals, to widen tho scope of his Department, but so far as the way-back settlers are'.concerned tho Marjhe Department; 'which controls tho weather bureau, should see to it that no penny-wise pound-foolish policy be followed where direct benefit is so great.'
