RECEPTION.

HELD AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE. GUESTS AND PROCEEDINGS. ■ On Saturday evening, at Government House, a reception was given by his Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington for Government-officials and members of both Houses of Parliament, together with thoir wives. Several rooins were thrown open to the guests, and the evening was spent in conversation or in listening to the music of a hand stationed in the ballroom. Beautiful flowers of all descriptions wero everywhere to bo semi, and in the dining-room, where supper was served, tho long 'table was arranged with huge bowls of whito irises. His Excellency th6 r GoV<!Mior and ladyIslington received iu the ballroom, Lady Islington wearing a princess frock of palo rose-coloured crepe tie chine brocade, tho upper part of tho corsage being of chiffon outlined with diamante embroidery and finished with a largo shaded pink rose. With this wero worn diamond ornaments and a diamond circlet on her hair. Miss Stapleton Cotton was in green satin, with cream chiffon threaded with silver on the bodioe.
