INTERNATIONAL BALLOON RACE. By Telegraph—Press Association—CopyriElrt New York, October 6. The annual international balloon race has started from Kansas City. Tho United States is represented by three contestants, Germany has two, and Franco one. (Reo. October 8, 5.5 p.m.) New York, October 8. The balloon race was somewhat of a failure, so far as distance was concerned. Seven of tho nino starters were compelled to laud owing to bad weather, after having covered distances of less than fivo hundred miles. French and Gorman representatives aire still in the air. (Rec. October 9, 0.40 a.m.) New York, Ootober 8. Germany won tho balloon race, travelling 75 miles further than the next best competitor, and covering between 500 and 600 miles. MR. BEAUMONT INJURED. (Reo. October 8, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, Oo'-ober 7. M. Beaumont (Lieut Conneau), the woll-known aviator, who recently won tho "Daily Mail" air race round Great Britain, while testing a monoplane at Rheims capsized and foil thirty feet. Ho broko a leg and received other injuries, but is likely to recover.
