AT THE MARKETS.
. A BUSY WEEK. . The present week has been an exeeptionnlly busy one at the Blair and Allen Streets, markets. Shipments of. Sydney, Hobart, and South Australian fruit came to hand, also a lino- of ve-packed Island oranges, via Aiicklmul. Local-produce of all foyis was in heavy supply. Prices for fruit for the week were satisfactory. Sydney ■mandarins in-good condition realised up to lls. Cd., and in poor order S.=. to 83. Oranges sold at from 7s. to 9=. fid.; lemons. Cs. to 7s:; pineapples, Ss. to Us.: re-packed Island oranges, 7?. to 10s. Yesterday's apple supply from Hohart saw Sturmerg bring 10s. to 12s. Gd.. and Scarlet Pearmains 10s. Gd. to 12s. Gd. A good many Mildura lemons turned out in bad order,' and sold at from 6s. to 12s. South. Australian*. lemons'fetched 10s. to 13s. A few Xelson apples are still available, and a shipment of cooking sorts mad" I <ls. to lls. Marmalade oranges sold at'. .0 Bs. per case. lettuce brouglit up to 9s. per case; rhubarb, is. to Ss. per dozen; cucumbers, 3Jd. to Bd.; asparagus, Is. Gd. to 2s. per bundle; tomatoes, Is. Id. to Is. 3d.; peas, Is. 9d. to Is. lid. per peck; new potatoes, 3id. to id. per Ib.; cabbages, 7s.' to 10s. por sack; cauliflowers, up to 17s. per sack. The market was glutted with old potatoes, and sales were hard to make at -is. Gd.'per sack. The market for fresh eggs is weak at lid. per dozen. In poultry, hens made 4s. to 55.; ducks, Gs. 6d. to 75.. Gd.; roosters, Gs. to Gs. 6d. pair. A small assortment of choice flowers realised very high prices-yesterday, some of the prices verging on a record for the season.
