The heifers, Highland China Cup and Highfield Vanity, are from the wellknown herd owned by Mr. C. Morris, of Highfield Hall, near St. AJbans. They are by the celebrated bull Pound Bellringer, and are in calf to stud bulls. Dcvons have been the favourite cattle- in New South Wales for' some time. ■ A further addition to the .ler?ey herds conies iii two brills for Mr. E. Eagle, of Carterton. The bulls were purchased for Mr. Eagle by Mr. Stuckey at tho Jersey salo held at Ashtou Court on June 9 by Lady Smythe. One of tho bulls is by ;Ashtori Noble—Bobbette, his- granddani being Lustre, winner o£ six first, prizes, :inctiitliiig first at the Spring Showiih 1907 and'l9oß, and second-at the Boyal:Show, at 'Newcastle-on-Tyne,. in. 1908... Ashtoii Noble was bj- Noble of Oaklands, a. son .of the celebrated champion . prize cow Lady Viola; out ofOctavia. winner of-the first prize for Jersey, and the Slythewood Bowl in 190", and various other prizes. Bobbette was R.H.C. in her class, and was awarded

The latter was Wond ■'.in the butter test prize, and E.J.B.S. bronze medal, and won several other: prizes. In ISO 7 she yielded 853051b. milk, in 1908 68111b., and in 1909 8816}lb. Shorthorn breeders will bo interested in a pedigree Shorthorn bull which comes ta the'order of Mr. W. T. Williams, of Awarna, Pukehou, Hawke's Bay. Tho bull is Baoton Mascot, and is from the
herd of Dean Willis, Bapton. Manor, :Wiltshire, who has sold many high-priced animals to go to the Argentine. The new arrival is a dark red animal of groat quality and substance, and possessing a beautiful head and neck.' He is 20 months : old,- and was .selected by Mf.-Stucke.y. Black Doug'.as, who was described in this column some time ago, was bred by Mr. G. Alston, of Darvel, Ayrshire, and has had some important successes in the show ring. As a year-
ling he took 1 first at the Glasgow Stallion Show, and second at the Highland Show; asa three-year-old third at the Highland, and this year fifth at the same event, a ff ainst tencompetitors. He is a black horse flicked with grey hairs, standing 1G hands 3 inches, with good quality and considerable weight. He is a grandson of tho famous breeding horso Baron's Pride. The five-year-old Clydesdale mare, Bathgate, with foal at foot, which was- purchased for Hγ. E. Short, of Paroransri, hv Mr. Boag, and who came out in the Kia Ora. were taken oif tho vessel at Auckland. ■ : . ■ .
