Preparing for Hospital Saturday. A well-attended and rather enthusiastic meeting of ladies interested in Hospital Saturday and Sunday was held in the Mayor's' room at the Town Hall last evening, Mr. Q. T. Lundon presiding. It was decided to forego the proposed house-to-house canvass for the present. It was decided that the uniform to be worn by tho collectors should be white drosses, with a Red Cross band on the sleeve. It was stated by the secretary (Mr. J. Coyle) that G5 ladies had already signified their intention to collect, and that there were other promises amounting approximoely to about tho same number. The secretary also stated that applications for collecting-boxes could be made at tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards offices at No. 4 Marion Street. The next meeting' wiil be held iu the Mayor's room on Thursday evening next. Mr. and Mrs. Skeet.left for Masterton yesterday en route to their" home at Carterton. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Fitzhcrbert (New Plymouth) returned yesterday by the Moana from a trip to Sydney. The annual opening of tho Art Exhibition takes place on Monday afternoon instead of on Saturday. The Misses A. and W. Clark, ofHedgelev, Hawke's Bar, are at present on a visit to Mrs. A." L. Beattie, Wellington Terrace. Mr. and Mrs. H. Warren (Hawke's Bay) returned on Wednesday from a visit to Sydney, and left Wellington yesterday for Napier. The Kelburne. Bowling Club holds its official opening on Saturday. The postponement from last Saturday has really proved a. fortunate circumstance, as the green is now looking better than ever, and bowlers inav depend upon a first-class playing surface.
