At the general election of ISOS tho contest for tho Parnelt scat was between Mr. I/awry and Sir. Moss (Opposition), tho former polling 3373 and tho latter 3154 votes, Mr. Lawry thus having a. majority of 2)9. In 1305 there were- live candidates, but tho contest was virtually between Mr. Lawry <vnd Mr. Murdoch MTjean (Opposition). Mr. Lawry had a majority of 122, tho votes recorded in his favour being 2582, as against 24G0 obtained by Mr. Ml>an. Tho Opposition vote was split by Mr. J. M. Shorn, who polled 272 votes. Tho other candidates were W. Morgan (G9) and W. Cliambors (58). In 1902 Mr. Lawry and Mr. J. M. Shera (Opposition) were the only candidates, tho former receiving 1990 and tho latter 1572 votes, tho majority for Mr. Lawry being 121.
