TARTAKOVER SUSPENDED. By Telegraph— Press Associatlon-OoDjrieht London. October 4. The Southern Counties' Amateur Summing Association has suspended tho Australian swimmer Tartakovor, for giving an exhibition of tho crawl stroke at a froa entertainment at the Hackney Poor Boys' Club, which is not affiliated to tho association. THORNDON CLUB'S REPORT. The annual report of tlio committee of tho Thorndon Swimming Club, to bo read at tho annual meeting of the club on Monday ovening next,, states that "it cannot bo otherwise than gratifying to observo the exceedingly satisfactory and estimable results obtained in respect to swimming. The finances show a credit balance of vCll 15s. Gd„ a reduction compared with previous years,. mainly duo to the small attendance at tho carnival, owing to oounter attractions at the Basin' Reserve, and the dullness of the weather in the morning. Tho committee recognises that its duty lies moro in the direction' of providing contests than in tho desire to create a largo banking account. For this reason members were very liberally treated in regard to tho provision of swimming eveuts, and an increase of about X 6 over tho expenditure for last year was devoted to this cause. "It is exceedingly satisfactory to note," states the report, "Hie material improvement in the standard of our swimmers which has manifested itself 'during tho past season, a pleasing state of .'affairs ' which is mainly to bo attributed to tho fact that several races Jot boys under sixteen years of age had been provided; these were responsible for i tho bringing out of a number of promising lads. Tho club had been successful in carrying out tho main purpose for which it was coustituded, viz., to foster and further tho interests of swimming generally. Mr. Colin .' Mac Donald resigned tho position of sec- i rotary, owing to his removal to Sydney, and Mr. E. G. Aekiu was appointed to fill the vacancy, but unfortunately he, too, was transferred from this city, and tho position again becamo vacant. Owing . to their removal from Wellington, tho ■ club lias lost some of its strongest supporters in Messrs. D. Joslyn, G. F- M'Kel- • lar, H. Lee, and E. Picot. These gentlonien v;cto untiring in their efforts to further tho interests of tho club,', and devoted much of their time to the de-< vclopment of swimming. Mr. Joslyn, was a member of the club for a _ number of years, and his loss is very keenly felt. * .10 thanks of the committee are due to 'io generous assistance rendered by its supporters, and the very liberal donations by the Right Hon. Sir J. G. Ward, irt., Drs. A. W. Izard, and A. L. An- . derson. Messrs. T. llouavne, H. Nelson, J. P. Maxwell, J. E. Henrys, L. W. Ludwig, H. Bo.iuchamp, S. Bneo, W. C. Gasquoine, 11. Lee, G. Tcogood, and J. Pieof. The club desires to place on record its appreciation for the excellent mannier in which swimming has been reported by the press throughout the season. Thanks are also duo to nio various gentlemen who officiated at the carnival. The. kind attention paid to swimmers, and the spontaneous assistance rendered by the custodian (Mr. Cnlnan) and his good wife are deserving of the highest commendation.

A meeting of the newly-formed Weir lingron College Old Boys' Swimming Club was hold at Bcthuno's Rooms this week.
