There was plenty of excitement throughout tho day, no tower than five out of eight matches being fought out to tho last green. Tho day iras not without its surprises, for although, a closu game was expected, few thought Mrs. Williams would inflict such a severe defe.it on Miss Wray. Mrs. Tumbull also created a surprise by defeating such a strong player as Mrs. W. Bidwill. The match between Jfe A. Pearce and Mr?. R. Oibcll was followed by a la.rgo gallery, who behaved exceedingly well, and observed all tlio points of following a match. Tiioy were treated to an excellent exhibition, of ths game.
