FOUR-WEEKLY PERIOD. At yesterday's meeting of the Tramways Committee of the City Council., Mr. Stuart Richardson submitted the tramways and power supply returns for the four weeks ended September 15, 1911; also totals for the 21 weeks of operation to date. On the tramway account, the gross revenue for the four weeks shows an increase of <£584, and the working expenses an increase of ,£625, as compared with the corresponding period of last year. After allowing for estimated capital charges, there is a credit balance to date on the revenue account of ,£1613, as compared with .£129 last year. The revenuo from the sale of electric current for tho four weeks shows.a decrease of ,£l9, and tho working expenses an increase of .£lO. After allowing for estimated capital charges there is a credit balance to (fate of £438, as against £510 last year. , The net result to date on the combined accounts is a credit balance of ,£2051, as compared witli last year, an increaso of ,£l3Bl. From this amount appropriations amounting to ,£1613 for special expenditure on works not capitalised will be made, leaving a balanco on revenue accounts of £438. 1 The traffic statistics show that the number of passengers carried for the four weeks amounted to 1,752,219, an increase of 70,918. Tho total passengers carried to date amount to 10,635,871, or 689,093 more than last year. The car miles run to rlato show an increaso of 24,625 miles. The averago tin flic revenuo per car milo on city lines this year amounts to 11.53 d., an increase of ,78cl. per car mile. The average working expenses per car mile over the whole of the system this year amounted to 1f1.19d., an .increase of ,33d. per car mile. The net surplus per car milo this year is .37d.. as against ,03d. last year.
