SEA BREAM.
CAUGHT OFF OTAGO HEADS. . Considerable oonjectnro has boon aroua. cd among those interested in the study of doep-sca fish over a catch of several fish of a, strango species which was modo about ■10 miles off t(ho Otago Heads on Thursday last. Somo of tiro fish, one of which turned the scale at 381b., were on exhibition in tho local fish sliops last week, and occasioned a groat doal of curiosity. Dr. Bcnham, professor iof biology at Otaso University, lias pronounced tho fish to Ijo sea broam. Tlio fislh, which are said to bo not entirely strango lo local waters having been caught hare several jmrs ago, aro common to many European waters, also to tho East Indies. The sea broam is allied ta tho fresh water or carp bream, which is found in many European lakes and rivers, and which afford good pport to the anglers, (hough coarse and insipid as food.
