The Wellington Branch of the Now Zealand Dental Association has elected the following officers:—President, Mr. 11. E. i-enniston; vico-prosident, Mr. R. D. Elliott; lion, secretary, Mr. Gordon Bender; lion, treasurer, Mr. Hubert Hoby; hon. auditor, Mr. J. Fairchild; committee, Dr. L. C. Hales and Messrs. A. Hoby, Knox Gilmer, W. K. Hursthouse, and W. Mantcll.

Messrs. James Fleming, A. Bain, and G. It. George (secretary), delegates from the Bluff Harbour Board to tho Harbour Boards' Association Conference, arrived in Wellington yesterday morning. Mr. R. A. Young, engineer to the Westport Harbour Board, and also engineer of tho Denniston Inclines, has been presented with tho gold emblem of the Institute of Marino Engineers. Mr. Young has been for years a tile associate of the institute, and has always taken a keen interest in its affairs. Mr. 0. Nicholson, Mayor of Mount Edon, arrived in Wellington by the Main Trunk train last evening. One of the vory early Now Zealand colonists, Mr. John Hart, died in Christchurch on Friday. The late Mr. Montagu Adams, wlioso death was recently announced, was in the Now Zealand Poliro Force for about fifty years in Marlborough. Ho was servant of tho polico there in tho sixties. When the "rush" to tho Wakamarina broko out in ISGt Sergeant Adams was in charge of tho mounted escort convoying tho gold from tho iield to Blenheim once a week. Members of this escort were Mr. Allen, now living in liavelock, and Mr. Peter Jlnling, ,wlio went Homo as a witness in tho Tichborno case. Deceased was a vigorous disciplinarian—a quality that stood liim in good stead in handling tho rougher human elements of tho district in tho early days. For' somo time lie acted as clerk to tho local Magistrate's Court and to the Havelock Town Board, but had lived in retirement for many years. Mr. A. Crooke, who lias been acting as relieving magistrate at Wanganui for the past three months, leaves at tho end of tho present week for New Plymouth. Mr. Kerr, S.M., who has quite recovered from the accident which incapacitated him, resume 3 duty at Wangamii after Mr, Crooke's departure.
