GOOD COWS- AT A FiiEMIUM. ' There has ljcen a steady growth in the dairying industry in Marlborough for sdnw time jvast, and, according to the ''Kxpiv-s," good cows luivo at length liecomo almost at a premium. There is_ a demand for good dairying cuttle, which ifi entirely in excess ot' the supply. A Wellington firm of butter merchants is reported to have contracted tp take- the output of butter from the factories in North Marlborough at a satisfactory price, ami this has had the effect of encouraging many, of'the smaller settlors to engage* in dairying on a moro extensive sc-ale than hitherto. In view of the fast that difficulty is being experienced in securing the necessary number of cows locally tin' Wellington butter firm 111 question has undertaken to secure some, good cows and ship them to Blenheim. It is reported that tlio tenns oil which thu' cows are to be supplied are that the farmers provided with additions to _ their herds will pay for the cows by instnlnwnts.by menus of having amounts deducted from their monthly cheques for butter-I'a.t. If they ki desire the farmers can, of course, pay. cash for the cattle.
