The Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, in speaking at the annual Eight Honrs' Day dinner, declared that what tho Labour party was fighting for was a standard of comfort below which the wife and family of no worker should hav© to exist. Tho Federal Government was taking v care that tho prosperous years should not cause them to run riot and bring disaster on the toiling masses when the lean years came. The whole interest from tho note issue was being held as a reserve against national calamity or providing for tho extinguishment of the national indebtedness. Referring to the late referendnm, Mr. Fisher said he intended to make another appeal to the country. (Eec. October 2, 0.15 a.m.) Sydney, October 1. Speaking at the Eight Hour Day banquet, the State Premier, Mr. M'Gowen, declared that he desired that the Federal authorities should be given power to prevent the operation of trusts 'and combines in Australia.
