COLLISION WITH A MOTOR-CAR.
I CYCLIST SERIOUSLY INJURED. . (By Tolcsrraph.-Prcss Association.) Christchurcli, October 1. About 2.45 p.m. to-day a collision of e serious character between a motor-car and a cyclist happened at the intersection of Victoria, hiimoro, and Durham Strcalit. The motor-car, wliich was driven by Mira Lcggatt, was coming from Papanui, twd at iiho intersection of tho streets monitionr od turned southwards into Durham Street to avoid a vchiele which was coming westward along Ivilmore Street. In turning into Durham Street (ho car collided with Edward Knox, a cyclist, who was going northwards along Durham Street. Tho cyclist hod almost readied tho middle of tho intersection when the front of tho ear struck him, and tho impetus carried him about ten yards until the car was brought to a standstill by striking a telegraph pole on the western fade of Durham Street. ICnox was taken from under the car, and was found to bo severely injurod about tho head and logs. The occupants of tho car escaped without injury, but tho front portion of tho oar was considorably damaged owing to tho force with wliich it struck the telegraph polo, a small portion of wliich, near tho baso, was slightly stripped. According to statements of eye-witnesses Clio oar was travelling at ail ordinary paco when it reached tho intersection, of the three streets. The extent of Knox's injuries aro not exactly town at tho time of telegraphing, but ono of his legs was broken and 6ead bruised.
