9 THE NEW BRIGHTON STATION. (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) Christchurch, September 30. Referring to (lie decision of the Government to establish a wireless station at New Brighton, the Mayor states that tho site chosen is in every way a suitable one. It was desirable that tho .vtaic'on should be near (he sea, and not in the vicinity of the MMs or mountains. The file chosen is in the Domain, between New Brighton ami New Brighton North. The Government lias taken about four acres for the station, and some adjacent land has also been purchased giving ac-cc-ss to the station from (ho North New Brighton tram line. There will thus be aeei-s from all sides of the stutioji, and it is expected that the place will become vo.ry attractive to visitors. The polos will bo 150 feet high, so t.lic station will bo quite a prominent feature of t'ha district. Ono condition imposed by the Borough Council is that the Government should provide and maintain for tho public us» a sunshine recorder in connection with tlie station. There will also bo a (olograph station a.nd post oflice. The port of the Domain on which tho station is to bo erected consists of sandhills, and is uot vlantcd.
