TEACHERS' INSTITUTE.
QUESTIONS OF SUPERANNUATION. A meeting of the Wellington branch of tho New Zealand Educational Institute was held on Friday, there being an attendance of about 20 members. Mr. C. Watson, president of tho branch, was, in the chair A resolution received from tho Wairarapa sub-branch, stating that it was now desirable that the sub-branch should have representation on tho Management Coniimltee of the District Institute, was referred to the Management Committee. A letter from tho Auckland District Institute conveyed the suggestion that the Wellington Institute should co-operato H-illi the Auckland branch with regard to legislation during the present session of Parliament providing for tho calculation of the teachers' superannuation rate on the three best financial years of tho teachers' service instead of the three final years of service. The opinion was generally expressed that there was not much hope of getting a Bill through this session. Tho institute endorsed tho suggestion of the .Auckland Institute and referred the. question to its Management Committee.. Consideration. of remits for the annual conference of representatives from the various New Zealand district institutes in January next was then taken. Jones was elected president for tho ensuing year, and Messrs. K. ,T. Foss and King vice-presidents. Miss E. Williams was appointed secretary. Discussion of the ]►?»• syllabus was held over. Two remits alt'ecting country teachers were prepared for the annual conference.
