HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
iFrom Our Special CorrcsDondcntj : —$ KESCUBD IN TIME. About 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon Constable Holmes noticed a man was Heating down the Hutt liivcr, about 250 yards north -of tha bridge. A boat hook was procured, and a man, who was working on the river-bed secured a horse, and rode out after the body. The man was brought ashore apparently dead, and was taken to a blacksmith's shop, whero Drs. Mirams and Hector set to work to restore respiration. After some time the efforts were crowned with success. The man's name is Patrick Leahy Harnet, land and estate agent, at Lower Hutt. It is not known how ho got into the river. A boat was washed ashore vesterd'ay near the mouth of the Hutt Kive'r, and is believed to be the one used by the lato Jlr. Ilepple, who was drowned in the harbour some time ago.
