MAN IN REVOLT.
The population of the small town o! Froissy,^.near Paris,-contains an. overwhelming" proportion of-women. pre. 60 scarce that nearly all the official posts, from town are occupied by .women., Th,e telegraph office and railway 'stations aro staffed entirely by women, and a woman • police officer is responsible. for .the maintenance of .law and order. .Among other, duties, she has Id parade the streets with a drum ond announce the names of young people who propose) to be married, a sort of primitive fashion of. publishing the banns which is the custom in Froissy. The men have made several unsuccessful attempts to rid their ' town of this domination. Lately they revolted against the woman barbor. The proprietress ■of the hairdrossing establishment ostensibly bowed to their I wishes, but took her revenge by bringing down from Paris a most incompetent operator, who shaved with incredible rapidity, bnt who made so many gashes that the gentlemen of Froissy appeared for days like German students who had been engaged in duelling. -In subdued_ spirit they begtred the proprietress to reinstate <he deft-fingered woman operator.
