THE ELECTIONS.
WELLINGTON SUBURBS. Mr. J. P. Luke addressed a meeting of electors at the Parochial Hall, Ka.rori, la.st evening. Mr. C. Ca>thio (Mayor of Karori) occupied tho chair. . Tho candidato dealt with tho improved conditions that have resulted consequent npf>n the increases in our import ami export trade. The volumo of trado with Great Britain hid been well maintained, and was a great factor in establishing relations between New Zealand and the Mother Country. Tho speaker also dea.lt with the Pest and Telegraph Department., and the growth of tho Savings Bank. Ho slated that this year's deposits in the Savings Bank had totalled .£10,708,000, as against .£9,011,000 for tho previous year. 110 also touched on the railway system, afforestation and the liquor question. At t.lio conclusion of tho address the candidate was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
MR, CAREY AT WADESTOWN. Mr. E. J. Carey, tho Labour candidato for Wellington North, addressed a meeting of his supporters in the schoolroom, Wadestown, last night. Mr. A. Parlanc, past president of tho Wellington Trades Council, presided. Mr. Carey explained at length the policy planks of the Labour platlorm, and the reason for Labour's participation' in the elections. A committee was set up to further his candidature in the district, and a vote of thanks and confidence was carried' unanimously. In conveying the resolution, Mr. Parlano complimented Mr. Carey on his selection and spoke appreciatively of his work on behalf of the hotel employers of tho Dominion. " ' WELLINGTON EAST. A meeting of the Hatai'ai supporters of Mr. F. G. Bolton's candidature for the Wellington East constituency 'was held last evening, when a committee was set up to canvass the district. Mr. Bolton will deliver an address at Hataitai at an early date. ■ Mr. Byron Brown's meetings for tho commg week are advertised. To-night he will deliver an address to the electors at Paraparaumu, in the Coronation' Hall. Mr. D. M'Laren, M.P., will meet Wellington East electors at Roseneaih 'on Monday. Mr. M'Laren's addiess begins at B*p.m.
