THE MOKAU INQUIRY.
{To tho Editor.] Sir,—Tour reports of tho proceedings in this case ai'o usually as perfect as it is possible to be, but thero aro two omissions in tho report of yesterday's proceedings that I ask leave to s..pply.' Tho chairman is reported to have said to mo: "Jn regard to a particular statement, I say that it is not true. You, havo withdrawn it,. thorcforo I accept your statement." The omission is, that I denied having withdrawn what I. had sVitod, and produced papers to show that. 1 was correct. Mr. Ngata more than onca pointed out to the chairman that he was under a misapprehension. Mr. Dive, Mr, Greenslade, and, I think, Mr. Parata, expressed the same opinion as Mr. Ngata. I am not sure about Mr. Herries—his back was towards me.
Tho other omission is, that tho committee intimated clearly that it had rulod the report of the Stout-Palmer Commission out from the" proceedings, thereby, of course, cutting the ground from imdor all that has been said in that document in villification of myself, and of the lenses being improperly obtained, and voidable; also shattering tho reasons that have been advanced by the Government for issuing the, famous 'Order-in-Council to enable tho freehold of these lands to be acquired by Mr. Herrman Lewis, the client of Messrs. Findlay and Dalziell. Tn October, 1900, accompanied by two lion, members, 1 requested tho Primo Minister to remove this infamous document from the table of the House, and gave tangible reasons for tho request; but it was ivrniitled to bo bound up in the Hhie-bonks. As the committee has n6w Ricfci-d it out, I may again, perhaps, _ appeal to Kir Joseph 'Ward to removo it from tht nublio records. J.JONES..
