RUGBY FOOTBALL. WELLINGTON TEAM TO-DAY. (By TclceraDh.-Press Association.) Duncdin, September 29. The Wellington team against Otago tomorrow will be as follows:—Full-back, Kinvig; three-quarters, Grace, Mitehinson, and liyan; five-eighth?, F. Roberts aad M'lvonzie; half, E. Roberts; forwards, Cunningham (wing), Elliott, lioulihan, Gillespie, Wilson, l'erry, Bell, aad Sullivan. THE NORTH ISLAND TEAM. The North Island selectors, Messrs. D. Gallagher'(Auckland), D. J. Malone (Taranaki), and H. I). Thompson (Wellington), havo cho9sn the following team to meet tho South Island's best next Saturday in Wellington Ful'l-baok: J. O'Leary (Auckland). Three-quarters: M'Gregor (Auckland), Mitchinson (Wellington), Eawiri (Horo whenua). . Five-eighths: Geddes (Auckland), Kaipara (Poverty Bay). Half-back: F. Roberts (Wellington). Wing-forward: Colinan (Taranaki). Forwards: Sellars (Auckland), Cave (Taranaki), Smith (Taranaki), Young (Taranaki), Tamu (Taranaki), Downing (Hawke's Bay), and A. "Wilson (Wellington). There are a number of comparatively unknown players in the team, which is probably oro of the weakest that has represented tho island in _ recent seasons. Even as it is selected it is subject to alteration in the event of individual players finding it impossible to make tho trip to Wellington. • Doubtless Wellington supporters of'the game will be a little disappointed to find that the back team does not include Mynott, Cameron, and Stohr, the throe Taranaki backs who had most to do with giving Wellington such a beating. The fact is, however, that none of the three can make arrangements to play, and they were thereforo not available to the selectors. SOME LOCAL ITEMS. The New Zealand Union has dismissed the appeal of tho Tramway Club against tho decision of the "Wellington union concerning a protest lodged by the club against the Artillery team for baring played a man on their sido without having received a permit. The New .Zealand Union found that the matter was one which was governed by local by : laws, and which did not therefore come within their jurisdiction. A referee, who has been acting as such in amateur matches m Wanganui, and at the same time taking an active part in tho fostering of tho professional mine there, has been declared by the New Zealand Union to be a professional, they could not expel him, for he was not a member of the union, but ho mil now be disqualified from becoming a member or from • again acting as referee m Kugby games. .
