ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
ACCIDENT ON A HULK. FALL FKOM A MAST. A single, man named Peter Carlson, aged about 2!) years, and employed as a casual hand on the Wesbiort Coal Company's hulk Jubilee, met with a rather serious accident yesterday morning. Whilst engaged in tarring one of tho mast* of the vessel tho strap supporting tho "tisnn's chair," in which he was seated, carried away,' with the result that he feir some twenty feat into the hold. Tha injuries received wero a compound fracture of one of Ins wrists, several ribs broken, and also injuries to his spine. Tho hulk, which is lying in the stream, signalled for modical'aid, and the Tcravhiti, with Dr. Henry on board, was promptly dispatched, 'i'lio injured man was brought ashore,, and after waiting some considerable time for the arrival of tho ambulance ho was removed to tho hospital.
THE CAPTAIN OF THE BELL FLpWER (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Cliristchurch, September 2G. A body, supposed to bo that of Captain Jl'Dowell, of the Bell Flower, which was wrecked off Banks Peninsula on July 21, was found on Saturday by one *f tho Kinloch settlers. The body was washed up on the beach in Tumbledown Bay, the scene of the wreck. It is sur'tnisetf that the body had been pinned under the wreckage, which was washed into a small cave, and the continual washing of the sea had released it. Constable Whatman, of Little liiver, went over on Sunday morning, and, with Mr. J. M'Queen, of Kinloch, buried the late captain's body close to the scene of the wreck. FOUND DROWNED. Auckland, September 26. Michael Creonp, a single man, aged G5, was found drowned in a creek near JCohukohu. It is supposed he foil into the water during an attack of heart failure. . .... Wairoa, September 2G. Joseph Younßiuan, a cook, aged 50 years, was found drowned in t'he Wairoa River yesterday afternoon. Ho had been missing since Saturday.
