THE MEN'S BROTHERHOOD.

Tho weekly gathering of the Men's Brotherhood took place in tho New Theatre, Manners Street, yesterday, when Mrs. Barton, of Glasgow, was tho sneaker. Thero was a very large attendance. Mr. Richard Brown occupied the chair. Madame Qroonio rendered two solos in an excellent manner, and Mrs. Barry gave an appropriate recitation. Mrs. Barton's subject was "Tho Drink Traffic." Shegave many instances of poverty and crime which were brought about by tho agency of strong drink. The speaker appealed very earnestly to her audience to (!*o their duty manfully by assisting their fellowmen to ignore the temptations which were placed fo prominently in their way, and reminded her hearers also that they were responsible for the morals and the upliftin,? of their neighbours. When each ono accepted this necessity, there would no longer be strikes in the ranks of thp .workers, and furthermore Hi? differences between master and man would be> a thing of the past, The whole trouble, or at least 75 per cent, of it, must be laid at tho dcor of tho drink traffic. Mr. Jo?. Lewis proposed, ' and , Mr. E. Arnold seconded, a hearty vote of, thanks to tho lecturer, which was curried enthusiastically. Tile speaker next Sunday will be his Honour Sir Robert Stout.
