MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr. W. G. Riddel], S.M.) ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING. At tho Magistrate's Court on Saturday a charge of stealing a sheep, valued at 205., was brought anainst John Baker. The slieep belonged lo Patrick Ravanash. Baker was romanded till September 27, and bail was fixed at .£OO. BEGGARS IMPRISONED. For using improper langungq William Robinson, alias M'Ewen. and Michael Mylrea, alias M'Rae, were each fiued .£2. For begging alms in C'ourtenay l'luco they were sentenced to three months' imprisonment. OTHER CASES. For drunkenness, William Mylan was sentenced ib three weeks' imprisonment. A seaman named Solomon Vale, or J. Vale, was ordered to forfeit two (lays' pay for absenting himself from the Rimutaka without leave. MOU.Vf COOK POLICE COURT. At the Mount Cook Police Court on Saturday, before Mr. T. 3. Lambert, .T.P.. the names of KatWcen Gctte and Mary Clarke! two old offenders, wcro asain called for drunkenness. They had each been bailed out for 10.-., and, not appearin;,', were fined the amount of (heir bail, with the alternative of JS hours' imprisonment. Waiter: "What will you liavp, rir?" Sirs. Elizabeth Ogilvio had a leg broken, Mr. Samuel M'Alister, of Belfast, had his left clavicle broken, and other passengers wcro cut and bruised.
