TRAINING STOCK JUDGES.

CARTERTON PROPOSAL 'PR AISED. Commenting on the question of traiuwg amateur judges to qualify them to take the place, in duo. course, or supplement, those who now perform the duties of judging live stock at A. and P. shows, which problem has been earnestly tackled by the W&irarapa and East Coast P. and A. •Association, as reported on. fully in TnE Dominion-, the "Farmers' Union Advocate" says that tha matter'is ono of very great importance, and one which will have, the double advantage of increasing the number of available, judges, also of establishing some defmito standard of judging.

The strong feature of the proposal .(the "Advocate" considers) is that the present judges who are to bo teachers, will. bo compelled to stato their reasons to the pupils, and thus in time we shall arrive at some recognised standard for the particular breed.

Iγ congratulating she Carterton Association on its progressive suggestion, tho "Advocate" expresses the hope that others ,will. follow. the excellent, lead given. Concluding its remarks, the journal in question says:—"That the scheme will prove a huge success we do not for a moment doubt, and it will bring nearer that which we have so often urged, the formation of a judges' association, tho membership of which will be a guajanteo of fitness to judge livo stock." .
