THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
Sir,—Thero will be probably a- vacancy to fill on tho board of tho Bank of New Zealand. As this will be a gift' of tho Government's to confer, it is hoped 'suen care will bo taken in the election of n director that will not cause a public grievance. For instance, it would be galling to others in tho same clas» <sf business who aro clients of tho bank if, say, a local warehouseman or such like were elected, thereby permitting one of their number to overhaul their banking relations.—l am, etc., „ , PENUA. September 14. [Since our correspondent's letter was received tho appointment' has been made. Wo hardly think tho selection will meet with very wido approval.]
