NELSON ELECTION.
I ,-rfJir;— Tliero is a rumour here that th» ijlokfflfid author of "Humbug"—ono of our Hailed democrats—is going to' honour the city of Nelson by standing as a "Liberal" candidate. We ask why does Sir John Pindlay not stand for Wellington whoro he is known and whoro lie has jmade all his wealth, and where tho people Siaivo been able to appreciate his Liberalism for yeais? Here, wo know nothing about him, except that ho got into the Cabinet by tho back stairs—that is, tho Jjegislativo Council—and that he, like •Havoral other Liberals, has a title by {professing democratic views. It is, however, to bo hoped that ho it-ill come. It 'will be a straight-out' fight between tho Opposition, and the Government if ho dcos; and I am pretty kuxo . that Sir John •Tindky will be taught that the Nelson -working men havo no relish for political (humbug.—l am, etc., OUDEIS. •Nelson, 1911.
