The Wairarnpa Caledonian Society held tho final "tngWide" of the season last evening, when about ono huadrcd and fifty couples were present. In the Magistrate's Court this morning. It. E. Ilalford, publican, was charged with having supplied liquor for consumption in tho Masterton No-License district without having furnished to tho clerk of the Court a statement as,'to tho naturo and quantity of tile liquor, together with the address of the person to whom it was sold. -..On the first ehargo accused was fined 20s. and costs, and, on the eccond charge, 20s. without costs. Several Chinese traders were fined ■at the Magistrate's Court this morning tor breaches of the Shops and Offices Act. At the Court this morning Charles Bentley was ordered to contribute is. Cd. per week towards the arrears of maintenance of his child, in default, a month's imprisonment. A match was held under th<> auspiccs of the Gnu Club yesterday, this being for Mr. A. I'. Whatman's trophy. Mr. J. l.aurenson made ton "kills'' in tho fifloen-Jjiril match, ami R. ,1. King eight birds in the nine-bird match. Daniel Wilton wa.s fined 2s. At tho monthly meeting of the M.isterton Chamber of Commerce to-day, a resolution by the Wellington Chainlm', asking far an amendment of the Industrial Ccnciliation and Arbitration Act, was approved.
