FORECAST AND SUMMARY.
Present indications are for stormy woa- ' tiler between East Cape and KaiUoura and in Cook Strait, with a south-east gale, heavy showers, and high seas on tho coast. Strong southerly winds arc probable generally, but decreasing after a,bout eighteen hours. Cold and changeable weather in most parts of tho Dominion, but improving after about 24 hours. Very stormy weather and heavy eeas have been experienced on the East Coast between Napier and Akaroa Peninsnla. also in Cook Strait. Masterton, September -20.—The Eev. A. Hodge reported at 6 o'clock to-night for the previous 24 hours as follows:—Shade temperature, maximum <4.4de5., minimum 38(leg„ mean 41.2deg.; earth temperature (lft. below surface), 49.6deg.j win.d, gale from south; rain 35 points; weather, cold southerly gales all night and day with occasional showers; seems to bo abating now.
