MINING TELEGRAM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Waihi, September 20. During the four-weekly period (twentyfour days) ending September 9, Grand Junction crushed and treated 86GO tons of oro for a return valued at £12,175. The total bullion won to date is £492,908. The following nrogress report has been cabled to London:—"Shaft down to No. 6 level, Empire lode, in various winzes, worth £4 10s., £4 ss„ £3 10s., £3 6s. Royal lode, values in winzes £2 9s. 3d. and £2 3s. 6d. The Mary lode is now up to Waihi Extended boundary. Value of the reef at this point £1 12=. 9d. Shaft in Waihi Extended is down 11C0 feet. Proparing to open ud new level." GRAND JUNCTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Waihi, September 20. The Grand Junction crushed and treated 8600 tons of ore for a return valued £12,175. Tho total output to date is £592,908. Development in the direction of the now level about to be opened up is highly satisfactory. Various winzes being sunk from No. 5 level to the now (No. 61 level discloso good values; in the latest cabled progress report values on the Empire lode in the winzes were £4 10s., £4 55., £3 10s., £3 6s. 3d.; on the Royal lode, £2 9s. and £2 3s. 6d.; on the Mary lode, £2 7s. 9(1. The drive on the Mary lode at No. 4 level has reached the Waihi Extended boundary. Tho value of the reef at this point is. £1 12;. 9d. —J WAini EXTENDED, (liy Telegraph—Press Association.) Walhl, September 20. The position of this mine, it is considered, ha 3 never been better. The shaft has reached a depth of 1100 feet and the reef met with in the shaft should be intersected almost immediately after starting tho crosscut from the chamber. Tho Mary lode in the Junction propertr strikes through the centre of the Extended ground. An arrangement between tho Grand Junction and tho Extended is in hand for the former company to continue driving on the Mary lode in tho Extended property. WATCHMAN G.II. CO. j The manager of the Watchman G.M. Co., reporting for tho week er.dcd Saturday, September 16, writes:—During tho pact week tho crosscut towards the Sunbeam low lovel. and through the City of Dmiedin reef, has been advanced a further distance of 21 feet, making a total of 94ft. 6in. in the present contract, which should bo completed about Tuesday next,' when another contract of ICO, feet (tho fourth) will be let from this'end of the mine. This, when completed, should sec n connection with the Sunbeam low level. The distance between these two levels is about 220 feet. This crosscut is nenetrating a face.of quartz of. a very hard nature. heavily charged with mineral, and occasionally a little rhodonite is -to be
rpen. At this point there is 38 feet of nuartz showing, including the width of the drive.
