"BECAUSE FRANCE IS READY-"
OPINION OF GENEBAL GODLET. During tho course of his address at tho New Zealand Club luncheon yesterday Major-General A. .T. Godley, C.8., Officer Commanding tho New Zealand Forces, brietly alluded to the recent crisis in Morocco. It was a popular belief, he said, that' one of tho principal reasons which caused Germany to hesitate before precipitating an international conflict was tho circumstance that the French people wero draw- , ing all their money out of tho German Sayings Banks. "Tito real reason, in my opinion," said the General, "is that France is ready for war. In 1870 she-w-as not ready.' Her army at the present moment may not be so perfect as the German Army, but she is ready; and she has Britain and Russia to back her up."
