ATHLETIC SPORTS.
ASSOCIATION. DOMINION COt'NCIL MEETS. A meeting of the New Zealand football Association was hold last evening, Mr. .T. J. Roberts (Wellington) presiding. There were also present: Messrs. \V. Auld (Taranaki), C. J. Ward (Cantorbury), A. Newbold (Auckland), W. .1. 11. Reynolds (Poverty liay), C. Jo. Fordham (Olagd), H. Yeoman (Marlborough), ». Wells (Southland), W. Duncan (Manawatu), [[. Miveowon (Hawke's Bay), and B. L. Salmon, secretary. Letters were received from Canterbury and Southland Association? in reply to a circular letter sent' out by the secretary (Mr. 13. L. Salmon) on August '-f. 111' this letter the various affiliated Associations were asked for the opinion as to affiliating with tho Sports Protection Association. So far Southland have decided to leave the matter in 'lie hands of tho Council and Canterbury are opposed to the suggestion. A letter was received from the Festival of Empire Sports Committee asking if the Council were in favour of that committee forming itself into an Olympic Games Committee pro tem, with a view to conferring with the various bodies governing sports interested in tlie formation of a permanent Olympic Games Committee. Tho letter also asked tho Council (in the event of its being in favour of a permanent committee) to appoint two delegates. It was decided that the Council shonld take no action in the matter.
