A STORMY VOYAGE.
THE AMAZON'S EXPERIENCES. By Telegraph—Prees Association—Copyright Sydney, September 15. The captain of the barque Amazon, which arrived yesterday from Willapa on the American Pacific coast after t a stormy voyage, reports meeting an exceptionally strong current in the vicinity of the Island of Eotumah, north-east of Fiji. It lasted to within two hundred miles of the Australian coast'. It is suggested that it is tho same current to" which tho captain of tho steamer Knight of St. George attributed tho loss of his vessel. The Amazon's leak was so great that only the constant' use of threo steam pumps kept her afloat.' Tho ship's carpenter (Nelson) was accidentally drowned at Fanning Island, where the vessel called for ropairs.
