The St. Agnes Lighthouse, Scilly Islands, the oldest lighthouse in existence, was finally shut deivn on August 9 after continuous service since 1080. The Triuity Board have decided that tho lighthouse is too extravagant to work, and have erected a modern iron automatic lighthouse on tho neighbouring island of St. Mary's.
