TE ARO BATHS.

_ Sir,—l liavo read with interest your interview with "an authority" re above. ''Lyail Bay has conquered, the baths do not pay." Tossibly so, but the baths (not nearly such splendid baths as the present one, paid very handsomely when they wero privately owned and 'kept open all day 011 fine Sundays. I think the present caretaker can confirm this. The preference for Lyail Bay is because the 11 o'clock closure does not apply. With reference to the "lazy ones," not a few will resent this. .Any medical man will say that it is not a desirable or safe thing to bathe for at least two hours after a meal. Well, the ordinary individual who finishes his breakfast, by nine nil Sunday morning, which is ouite average, should' not bathe until 11 o clo< k, i.e., tho present hour of closing. I note the present caretakers at the To .Aro Baths have had thoir salary increased to ,CW3: in addition, tlioy have Quarters worth, say, ,£lO, and all (lie profits from llio sale and hire of trunks and towels (110 small item this); fees for teaching swimming, donations from swimmings clubs, etc., make the nosition a very remunerative one, and if the council wero to call for applications with a proviso that the baths bo kept open all day on Sundays, the crowd after it would be something like coming nut of Athletic Park after the football match last Saturday—l am, ctc., VERY TIRED.
